NOVEMBER - ANOTHER QUIET MONTH

Pictured above four very wet and cold SENPAC members after a day out on the Lake of Menteith. Unfortunately only small Pike caught on the session. Dave Gardner pictured left caught an estimated 18lb fish that escaped being photographed as the mesh in the net had deteriorated and the inevitable happened.

Bruce Turnbull had a return visit to the highlands of Scotland during November and found that some water levels were rather low. He also came to the rescue of a little jack Pike that had been trapped in  a very small puddle. The fish was rescued and released into a larger area of water.

The trip proved worthwhile.

and for the wildlife as well.

This month we will save the best to the last. Pictured below a very happy Jason who captured this stunning Stripey whilst fishing in Spain. Weighing in at 5lbs 2 ozs and 50cm in length its a real belter.

Hopefully some more large fish to report next month as we head into the new year. In the meantime we wish all our readers and their families around the world a very Merry Christmas from all at SENPAC.

OCTOBER - A QUIET START FOR SOME.

It has been a quiet start to the season for most of our members but pictured above a happy Paul Proctor with his new 23lb PB captured during the region's Jolly Boys outing. Paul also captured a smaller  double figure fish along with Dave Greally but for everyone else it was a case of small jacks. The weather did not help as torrential rain and wind hindered the fishing. As usual the trip was hailed a success with everyone attending enjoying the company of fellow members and the usual banter.

A NEW PIKING SEASON BEGINS.

A very good start to the season with two lovely fish caught from over the border. Pictured above a 22lb 12oz caught by Dave Greally and below a 16lb caught by Bruce Turnbull, So its full steam ahead at the start of this new season. The members are looking forward to getting their baits in the water and hopefully some special fish will be caught in the next few months. Moving back in time the region's Summer league had one of the closest finishes in years. Only a few pounds seperated those at the top of the table and the venue that was being fished in the last leg was well stocked with decent sized Carp. Jon Tweddle started the match in top spot and high weights had been expected but unfortunately due to conditions and a large amount of anglers fishing the venue for 48 hours beforehand the fish basically did not turn up. An eight pound Carp took Mike Bell into second place but that was not enough to overhaul Jon who took first place without catching a fish. Bruce Turnbull finished in third spot.

                                               Runner Up Mike.

Some other nice fish caught last month by the members.

SUMMER DAYS COMING TO A CLOSE.

The Summer is now starting to fade away but the members have still been out catching some nice fish. Pictured above Wayne Gardner with a nice locally caught Tench. Our new junior member Harry has been enjoying his days out on the bank as well getting a new PB Bream weighing in at 6lbs pictured below.

Steve Sandiford has also been down on the river catching this very dark Bream.

The region's Summer league is building up to being one of the tightest finishes for many years  with three of the members topping the league table as we move into the fourth and final match. The other members involved are not out of it and they could get in the frame with a good final round. In first place at the moment is Jon Tweddle but hot on his heels are Bruce Turnbull and Chris Graham. The final match is on a venue which holds some decent fish so it looks as though this year's winner will have to work hard to lift the trophy.

Jon. Top Of The Summer League But Will He Lift The Cup.

We are now looking forward to the 1st October and the start of the new Pike fishing season. All the lads are looking forward to making a start and busy sorting all the gear out.

Finally Paul Proctor who has been winning some silverware.

Paul is a well known SENPAC member who has won many of the region's  trophies over the years but this season his fishing has been on hold due to his bowling exploits. He will soon be back on the Piking trail but in the meantime he is happy picking up other big trophies. A man of many talents.

AUGUST - REGION'S SUMMER LEAGUE.

The region's Summer league commenced at the start of July with round one being won by Jon Tweddle. Bruce Turnbull finished second with Chris Graham taking third spot. Round two was unfortunately cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and will be fished this next weekend. Other news from July and Bruce has continued his quest for a big Carp and after catching some double figure Bream his luck changed with two nice Carp weighing in at 14lb and 24lb respectively.

Andy, Billy, Steve and young Harry also enjoyed success during the month.

ANOTHER SENPAC SUMMER.

The region is now getting back up to speed and the members are really pleased to be out on the bank again. The great comradeship and craic amongst the members makes the region tick. Pictured above Bruce Turnbull presenting the annual Golden Maggot trophy to Dave Greally after winning the match. Second place went to Mike Bell with Bruce taking third position. Our four match Summer series is already underway and we will be reporting on the results of the first two matches in our next blog update. Other news from the region and Steve Sandiford has been on his annual break looking for some big Barbel and Chub. No monsters to report but Steve still managed to winkle out some nice fish.

Bruce has been away on his travels again this time back to the highlands of Scotland this time fishing for wild Trout in the picturesque lochs. A couple of nice fish along the way and if you want to see the whole story check out the trip on An Anglers Diary with a Moment in Time Channel - Chapter 45.

And finally for this month one of our new younger members. Meet Jonnie who is showing his dad Jon how to catch fish. You have to start somewhere but this young man is destined to catch much bigger and better fish in the future. Watch this space.
