AN ANGLERS DIARY - CHAPTER 3

So that's the second month of the piking season gone already...……...…...………..

Thursday 5 December 2019

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.........

So you've booked a family holiday and whilst the family are busy researching places of interest to visit and restaurants to eat at, you're quietly doing your own research into what possible options may be available that would provide the opportunity for a sneaky days fishing. You know the sort of thing, something a bit different to the fishing back home, something that will hopefully provide a little excitement and perhaps the opportunity to catch something new.

Come-on we've all done it ! However we've also experienced trips like this that turn out to be something of a disappointment, times when you learn a whole new catalogue of reasons why the fish failed to show up for you, from your temporary host/guide/friend, many of which come in handy for your fishing when you get back home. An expensive way of generating new fishing related excuses though.

That said, SENPAC seems to have amongst its membership a gentleman who seems to have, either, worked out the wrinkles when it comes to holiday angling, or is supremely multi-talented, or is just blessed with golden b***s, ( my money's on the latter!) and he has been at it again...…..

Take a bow Steve (GB's) Sandiford and this time it was a Gran Canaria holiday...………..

So having got all the variables right, right boat, right guide, right time, right place, the rest was down to Steve and, as we have now come to expect, he got that bit right as well...………….result?

                                                            BLUE SHARK - 150 kgs

Well done Steve from all at SENPAC, I bet the celebration party was a bit special mate? Oh and apparently it was a new PB !!!!!!!!!

NOVEMBER - AN ENJOYABLE MONTH.

Dave Gardner with a couple of November fish.

The month's club trip to Cumbria provided Dave Greally with a good Pike at 15lb 8ozs
with Bruce Turnbull leaving it late in the day with an 11lb fish.

Once again our friendly Cumbrian Robin made an appearance to remind us all that Christmas is approaching. We take this opportunity to wish all our readers around the world a very Merry Xmas.

A FINE START TO THE SEASON.

The new Pike season arrived and the waiting was over. Highlight for October was the eagerly awaited Jolly Boys region's outing. Eight of the members made the trip and enjoyed what was to be one of our more successful sorties in search of a big fish or two. The weather was at times windy and wet but overall we could have no complaints. Paul Proctor had a very good few days with a good number of Pike coming to his net the biggest weighing in at 14lbs.

A Good Start For Paul.

Steve Enjoying Success.

Sunday morning and once again everyone was up early this time to fish the region's monthly match. Another good day was had by all with the two biggest fish falling to Mike Bell and Bruce Turnbull.

Mike. That Will Do Nicely

Bruce. The Best Of The Bunch  At 22 lb 8ozs.

AN ANGLER'S DIARY - OCTOBER 2019

Early season success for one of our SENPAC number...………………………………...

Saturday 5 October 2019

PIKE ON THE AGENDA - HERE WE GO AGAIN.

The start of October has dawned and once again it is time to turn our
attention to the Pike fishing.
We are all set for the start of the season and hopefully during the next six months the members will have some big girls on the bank. But first of all we will tidy up was has been happening this last month. The final Summer league match was fished on a local reservoir. Mike Bell took the honours on the day with some nice Roach but he could not overhaul Dave Greally who lifted the Summer cup for 2019. Mike Bell finished second and Mike Halligan was in third place.

Most of the other fish caught during September were Carp from some of our local waters. Good catches for Paul Proctor, Chris Graham and Mike Halligan.

And A Nice Stripey For Bruce Turnbull

So that is the end of another SENPAC Summer.

As we head into our new Pike season please visit our blog and hopefully we will have some nice fish to show you.

Thursday 5 September 2019

ANOTHER SENPAC SUMMER - A GREAT MONTH.

No complaints from the members this last month with some lovely Roach, Rudd, Tench, Bream, Perch and Carp being caught along with some other exceptional fish. First of the better fish fell to that man Steve "Salmon" Sandiford. He was back at one of his favourite haunts and lured this 17lb Salmon pictured below. Not content with that one a few days later he caught the smaller one weighing in at 15lb. If that was not enough he also caught a 6lb Bream from another local river. Not a bad haul for a few days on the bank.

Dave Greally also had a good month catching this Barbel at 8lb 10 ozs.

He followed up with this lovely 21lb 8oz Pike whilst fishing in Scotland over the bank holiday weekend.

Other notable fish this last month included a 6lb 15oz Chub pictured below and on the same session a 6lb 4oz fish for Bruce Turnbull.

The SENPAC Summer league matches are now coming to a close and the final result will be given in our next post. Only a month to go to the new Pike season and the members are gearing up for the off. Please continue to follow our monthly reports as the Pike season is about to start. Hopefully more big fish to report over the next few months.

ANOTHER SENPAC SUMMER - NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

Pictured above two new recruits to the SENPAC squad. Meet Finn holding the Carp and Zac pictured with his Tench. What will the future hold for them. Well hopefully out on the bank with the lads for some Winter Pike fishing in the months to come. This last month has been very enjoyable for our members who have been out and about mostly at our local waters.

The region's Summer league matches started with Mike Halligan taking the first event.

Dave Greally had a break in Scotland but found the fishing rather tough. At least this small Pike pictured below made it more enjoyable.

Sunday 7 July 2019

ANOTHER SENPAC SUMMER - BIG BARBEL.

Another good month for the members with a couple of really nice fish being caught. First of all Steve Sandiford on one of his yearly holidays down South lured out this beautiful Barbel pictured below which weighed in at 12lb 3ozs. Due to very high water levels Steve was unable to fish on his first day but made up for it in big style the next day with this early morning cracker.

Another happy SENPAC member was Dave Greally who caught this
6lb 12oz Chub whilst fishing one of the Yorkshire rivers.

Bruce Turnbull took time out for a fortnights holiday abroad but it did not take him long after his return to catch this lovely 14lb Common from one of the local waters.

Bruce also enjoyed success during the month when he lifted the prestigious Golden Maggot trophy the first Summer event on the club's calendar.

The other members of the region have also been out and although the size of the fish they have caught have not been of the standard above its all about being out on the bank and enjoying your fishing.

Tuesday 4 June 2019

ANOTHER SENPAC SUMMER - ENJOYABLE DAYS.

The month started well when Bruce Turnbull caught this nice 12lb Pike (pictured below) whilst enjoying a short break over the border with Dave Gardner.

Steve Sandiford certainly enjoys his lure fishing and was successful again when fishing one of our local waters catching six Pike in a couple of hours.

Most of the Pike gear has been put away now until October, so everyone is concentrating on catching some Summer species. Local waters have again been fruitful with good bags being caught. Paul Proctor caught in excess of 100lbs of Carp during one of his sessions. Dave Gardner and Bruce Turnbull have also enjoyed quality catches. Bruce is certainly enjoying his fishing at present. Pictured below some nice fish caught in May.

In the next few days our coarse fishing matches will commence. First in line is our Golden Maggot trophy followed by our four match series for the Summer cup which will be held over July and August. Our trophy year has just ended with the following members being successful in the various categories. Top of the list is our Pike angler of the year which this year was won by Aaron Greally who also picked up the biggest Pike of the year award. Dave Greally was club trip champion and for the second year running Chris Graham lifted the trophy for the biggest Pike caught on a club trip. Steve Sandiford won the best Pike on a lure and Mike Bell was presented with the Stuart Mordue trophy. Paul Proctor and Dave Greally picked up the trophies for winning last year's Summer cup and Golden Maggot matches.
