Pictured above is SENPAC member Andy Eland with another lovely fish caught at the Lake of Menteith. Andy like a lot of the other lads in the region has the knack of catching these wonderful Pike. But that is not the end of the story. Andy also has another talent that being his ability to raise money for a very worthy charity. It is nearly five years ago now that Andy brought up the subject of doing some fundraising for a cancer charity through SENPAC. As most people know Andy wanted to raise £500.00. Our chosen charity was to be Children's Cancer North, and now as of today we have raised over £38,000.00. It was Andy's dream back in mid January this year to hatch a plan to hold a mini convention in the North East of England that would raise more substantial funds and take us ever closer to raising our target figure of £50,000.00. We are now only three weeks away from staging our event THE SENPAC PIKE AND PREDATOR CHARITY ANGLING EVENT which is being held at West Moor social club, 16, Moorside, Great Lime Road, West Moor, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE12 7NL on Saturday 24th October 2026. Since January and enormous amount of time and effort has been put in on the event which will be one of the biggest events held in the North East for many years. We can now announce that our plan is nearly in place and all we need on the day is a good turnout We have been blessed with some amazing guest speakers who have given their time to support us. These are guest speakers who have a reputation of being some of the biggest names in the country. Two British Pike record holders in the shape of Neville Fickling and Lloyd Watson appearing at the same venue is amazing and then throw in for good measure Eric Edwards, Brian Ingram, PAC stalwart Dick Culpin and the PAC president Jon Neafcy. What more do you want for your money. We also have Charlie Coppolo demonstrating the art of lure fishing and one of Yorkshire's finest Bill Winship who will be bringing along with him over 50 years experience of Pike fishing together with his latest book Pike Fishing in Scotland which will be available on the day and personally signed by Bill. This book proved popular at the PAC convention and sold out quickly. We also have to thank the individuals and companies that have donated some amazing raffle prizes which include rods, reels, terminal tackle, gift vouchers and much much more. We are having a blind auction which is proving popular. You can place your bid online or place it in our bid box on the day. The winners will be announced later in the evening. We have tackle stands on the day who will be selling and promoting tackle and the PAC stand will also be on hand giving sound advice to those who want to take up Pike fishing, the equipment required and how to handle and care for the fish when you have caught one. Food will be available on the day with snacks and nibbles available and the bar will be open from 12 noon till closing. After the event has concluded their will be a short break until the evening fundraiser begins around 7pm. Four live acts have again given their time to support Children's Cancer North and we will also be having a MEGA tombola and a raffle. Before moving on with the normal SENPAC news I would just like to thank everyone who has helped us along with this project. In the last nine months we have worked hard to bring this show together All being well we will get our reward with a good turnout on the day which in turn will raise a substantial amount for the charity.
