PIKE SEASON COMES TO AN ABRUPT END.

The members of SENPAC had so much to look forward to in March with the PAC event on Menteith and the region's social event the Jolly Boys outing, but in the end it did not work out the way we wanted it to with the final stumbling block being the Covid - 19 outbreak.  Seven of our members took part in the Menteith event in Mid March. Before the start of the event we were pretty confident that someone would catch a decent fish but as the day passed by it was very apparent that it was going to be one of those days. Conditions during the morning were fine but the afternoon brought rain and blustery conditions. More Trout caught than Pike at the end of the day. Best fish for our group was a late afternoon 15lb for Andy McIntosh. Never mind the show goes on and we look forward to our next visit.

Just One Of Those Days.

After Menteith we had the Jolly Boys outing to look forward too but that was quickly cancelled and will be re arranged at a future date. Best fish of the month and one of the best fish of the season fell to the man in form Bruce Turnbull with a stunning fish weighing in at 24lb 8 ozs.

Footage of the capture of this magnificent fish can be seen on An Anglers Diary Chapter 7.

The final chapter of our Piking season was the last leg of our Winter SENPAC Pike championship. Once again the big fish failed to turn up but in the end it was Dave Greally who romped home to lift the trophy once again. In second place a gallant effort from Paul Proctor with Bruce Turnbull in third place and Peter Armstrong in fourth position.

We now look forward to our Summer season when we will again be out and about on various waters. We will also be having our regular competitions as well. Who knows when we will all be out on the bank again. Hopefully sooner than later. In closing we will leave you with another couple of idyllic photos taken whilst on our travels. Once again we would like to thank our readers all over the world for tuning in to our blog. We will be back soon with more photos and stories from the world of SENPAC. Stay safe and be sensible and we will see you all soon.

AN ANGLERS DIARY - CHAPTER 7

A foreshortened month of fishing due to obvious reasons. Still managed a little excitement for which I am very grateful........

MARCH - A BUSY SENPAC MONTH.

March has arrived and this coming month is a very busy one for the region. The second weekend of the month and we have the PAC event on the Lake of Menteith and the following week another of the Jolly Boys outings which are always popular and fully subscribed. So a lot of Pike fishing to look forward to and hopefully some good fish will be captured. Looking back at February and the weather played a big part in whether you ventured out or stayed at home. Two of our regular stalwarts Bruce Turnbull and Dave Greally were not going to be held back and despite wind, rain, and extreme mud at times were determined to be on the bank after that extra special fish. As the saying goes "If you don't put bait in you wont catch" and both I am pleased to say were successful. Bruce had the extra special fish with a lovely 21lb Pike. ( See An Anglers Diary Chapter 6 for the full story).

The fifth round of the region's Winter Pike championship was interrupted by storm Dennis but some members did venture out and despite some atrocious weather conditions the sun came out and Dave Gardner caught the only fish of the day.

Dave - Only Pike of the day.

One round to go in this seasons championship and presently Dave Greally in pole position.

AN ANGLERS DIARY - CHAPTER 6

Rain, rain and more rain, floods and storms made for difficult fishing. But it all came right in the end...…….
