MAY - A SPECIAL SENPAC MONTH.

The region had one of its better months in May with some lovely fish being caught. Bruce Turnbull fished one of his local waters and had these two beautiful Tench.

Dave Gardner and Steve Sandiford had a successful few days out on the water with Steve celebrating a personal best Perch and a personal best Pike which weighed in at 27lbs 8 ozs.

The first round of the SENPAC Summer league took place in mid May and Dave Greally took 1st Place with a total weight of 18lbs 2 ozs. Paul Patterson finished second and Bruce Turnbull third.

Paul With A PB Which Claimed Him Second Place.

The one off Golden Maggot match was a close run affair at the end of the day. Peter Armstrong lifted the cup this year with Bruce Turnbull finishing second and Paul Patterson third.

And finally the region held another fundraising night for Children's Cancer North. Once again an amazing evening which raised a total of £1,621.00. Total raised to date now stands at an amazing £24,649.00. Only a matter of time before we hit that magic £25,000.00 target.
On the night a cheque for £11,000.00 (the amount raised this last year) was presented to Tiago Santos from Children's Cancer North from young Nathan Cartwright who presented last year's cheque also to the charity.

LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR SUMMER SERIES OF MATCHES.

Now that the traditional Pike season is behind us the region's members are looking forward to our competitive Summer series of matches. Dates are now in the diary with the first match due to be fished later this month. All the matches take place on some of our local waters. Our one off yearly Golden Maggot match will be fished for at the start of June. The local waters have been fairly quiet this last month but I am pleased to say since the start of this month the fish have started to appear with some lovely Tench and large Bream being caught by the lads. Andy decided to travel North last month and had two lovely Pike weighing in at 22lb 10ozs (pictured below) and 20lbs 6ozs. Jon also followed in Andy's footsteps catching a couple of smaller Pike.

The region's fundraising for Children's Cancer North is still going amazingly well with support showing no signs of slowing down. The region is having another big fundraising event later this month and hopefully another big turnout as last year's event. At this point a year ago the region had raised just under £13,000.00, We are presently standing at just over £22,700.00 so at the start of next month we should have taken another major step towards our target of £25,000.00.

THE END OF ANOTHER SENPAC YEAR.

A relatively quiet end to the Pike season for most of the region's members but on the other hand Dave Gardner and Steve Sandiford had a break away for a few days trying to catch a few Barbel. Some lovely fish caught with both of them catching personal bests.

Dave And His PB 12lb 12 oz.

Steve's PB at 12lbs 11oz.

Ross Greaves was voted the region's Pike angler of the year and he also caught the biggest lure caught Pike and finally the SENPAC trophy was jointly awarded to Andy Eland and Mike Bell for their fund raising efforts for Children's Cancer North.

FEBRUARY - RESULTS IMPROVE.

After a quiet January the fishing started to improve this last month. Steve Sandiford and Dave Gardner had some success over the border catching a few Pike the  two biggest pictured below.

Steve moved on to a much warmer climate when he went fishing off the coast of Gran Canaria catching some nice Tuna and Ray's whilst topping up his tan.

March sees the end of the SENPAC trophy year as well as the final round of our Winter Pike championship. The final round is to be contested on one of our local waters. After round five Steve Sandiford is in the lead with Ross Greaves and Stuart Fairclough in joint second place.

A QUIET START TO THE NEW YEAR.

A very quiet SENPAC month for January. Icy conditions, rain and snow keeping the members indoors and not on the bank. Round four of the region's Winter Pike championship did take place on one of our local reservoirs in very cold conditions. Extremely high water and wind chill did not help matters on the day and resulted in everyone involved enduring a very frustrating day and a blank session. Going into round five of the championship this month Steve Sandiford still holds a decent lead over Stu Fairclough and Ross Greaves.

                                              Success For Steve.

The two biggest Pike of the month fell to Steve Sandiford and Andy Eland. Hopefully February will bring the members a change of luck,
