MARCH - A BUSY SENPAC MONTH.

March has arrived and this coming month is a very busy one for the region. The second weekend of the month and we have the PAC event on the Lake of Menteith and the following week another of the Jolly Boys outings which are always popular and fully subscribed. So a lot of Pike fishing to look forward to and hopefully some good fish will be captured. Looking back at February and the weather played a big part in whether you ventured out or stayed at home. Two of our regular stalwarts Bruce Turnbull and Dave Greally were not going to be held back and despite wind, rain, and extreme mud at times were determined to be on the bank after that extra special fish. As the saying goes "If you don't put bait in you wont catch" and both I am pleased to say were successful. Bruce had the extra special fish with a lovely 21lb Pike. ( See An Anglers Diary Chapter 6 for the full story).

The fifth round of the region's Winter Pike championship was interrupted by storm Dennis but some members did venture out and despite some atrocious weather conditions the sun came out and Dave Gardner caught the only fish of the day.

Dave - Only Pike of the day.

One round to go in this seasons championship and presently Dave Greally in pole position.

JANUARY - THE START OF A NEW YEAR.

                                           Back On The Bank.

After a quiet Christmas break all the members are once again geared up and ready for the off. Not to say that we have all had our feet up but December usually brings along other challenges and tasks that use up those hours that have been put aside for Piking. No big fish appeared over the Christmas break but some of the lads did manage to find the time to venture out and catch a few smaller Pike.

Once again December provided some spectacular sunrises and sunsets some of which are pictured below. We take this opportunity to wish all our readers around the world tight lines for 2020.

AN ANGLERS DIARY - CHAPTER 3

So that's the second month of the piking season gone already...……...…...………..

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.........

So you've booked a family holiday and whilst the family are busy researching places of interest to visit and restaurants to eat at, you're quietly doing your own research into what possible options may be available that would provide the opportunity for a sneaky days fishing. You know the sort of thing, something a bit different to the fishing back home, something that will hopefully provide a little excitement and perhaps the opportunity to catch something new.

Come-on we've all done it ! However we've also experienced trips like this that turn out to be something of a disappointment, times when you learn a whole new catalogue of reasons why the fish failed to show up for you, from your temporary host/guide/friend, many of which come in handy for your fishing when you get back home. An expensive way of generating new fishing related excuses though.

That said, SENPAC seems to have amongst its membership a gentleman who seems to have, either, worked out the wrinkles when it comes to holiday angling, or is supremely multi-talented, or is just blessed with golden b***s, ( my money's on the latter!) and he has been at it again...…..

Take a bow Steve (GB's) Sandiford and this time it was a Gran Canaria holiday...………..

So having got all the variables right, right boat, right guide, right time, right place, the rest was down to Steve and, as we have now come to expect, he got that bit right as well...………….result?

Well done Steve from all at SENPAC, I bet the celebration party was a bit special mate? Oh and apparently it was a new PB !!!!!!!!!
