A QUIET END TO THE YEAR.

THE HIGHS AND LOWS OF PIKE FISHING.
Last month the region had some really good results with some cracking fish being caught but we also had to suffer the severe weather during the region's Jolly Boys outing to the lake district. As usual the banter and craic was of the highest order along with our accommodation. The second round of the region's Winter championship took place on our first full day on one of the larger waters. A glorious day with plenty sunshine and a light breeze saw eight members hoping for a good day. It certainly did not work out the way we would have wished for. Seven hours into the competition and nearly twenty rods and not a touch. At that point we felt as though no Pike existed in the place but luckily Dave Gardner caught the only Pike of the day at 13lbs.

A GOOD START TO THE SEASON.
The region has had a good start to the season with some nice Pike being caught two which exceeded the 20lb mark. As mentioned in last months blog it does not usually take long for the first SENPAC twenty pounder to be caught and once again this year that has been the case. Two lovely fish weighing in at 20lbs 2ozs and 25lb 8ozs. Dave Greally caught both fish on a weekend session and he once again has set a high target for the other members to beat over the next few months.
A busy month ahead for the region with the club's Jolly Boys outing taking place. A great social trip away for a few days with great craic and hopefully some big Esox on the bank. Members also involved with events on Chew Valley and both the PAC and PAAS events on the Lake Of Menteith.

PIKING TIME AGAIN.
The first of October and the new Pike season has started. The members will be out and about and the quest is on to see who can get the first SENPAC 20 for 2023/24. Based on other years the answer is probably going to be not that long. Time will tell. But before we start reporting on our Pike fishing exploits a run down on what has been happening this last month. Another fruitful month with some lovely Barbel and Chub being caught by those who were prepared to do some travelling and some river Pike caught in the last couple of weeks.

SUMMER SEASON COMING TO AN END.
Steve With A Nice Net Of Roach.
The Summer season is nearing its end but the region has had reasonable success with most of the members catching some nice fish. The Summer League trophy fished over four events was won by Bruce Turnbull with a total weight of 61 lbs beating Dave Greally into second place with 59 lbs. Third place went to Dave Gardner.
The new Pike season is approaching and plans for the region's monthly trips are nearly in place. Our Jolly Boys outing will be in November and this year we have a good turnout. As mentioned before this trip is a great social event with good accommodation, plenty of banter and hopefully some big Pike.
